Hey everybody. Sorry I’ve been MIA lately. I’ve been doing a little experiment. I am tracing a scene from one of my Pencilmation episodes with a real pen and then scanning the images into my computer. What do you guys think of this?

Also, I am going to try to draw a version in crayon or something like that.  I have an idea for a Pencilmation cartoon that I would like to submit to film festivals because I think the story is stronger than some of my others.  It’s about a robot’s unsuccessful attempts to woo a girl.  When she discovers that the robot is being piloted by a boy, she falls instantly in love with him, but upon viewing their love we find that the robot is not controlled by the boy but actually in love.  The robot is heartbroken.

It’s not quite as zany as some of my other cartoons, but don’t worry, I will make plenty of zany ones in the future.

Yes folks, the next episode starring our fearless and somewhat brainless pencil-drawn friend, Hank, will be appearing very soon! The entire episode takes place underwater and in outer space which I have discovered is a real pain in the booty for animating. Drawing people floating around in space takes a lot more drawings. That’s why this operation has been a bit slow lately, but fear not my faithful viewers, the next episode shall be online in approximately one week.

Over the past few months, many people have told me that they like Pencilmation #1 and #2 the best, and I am attempting to uncover exactly why. Is it because they are more random? Is it because the character is a stick guy? I am not totally sure, but I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I want my cartoons to be as funny and enjoyable as possible, and I want to learn from my audience–you guys. That’s largely why I set up this website in the form of a blog, so if anybody has thoughts about old versus new Pencilmations please share them here, and I will read carefully!

In the latest episode with Hank and the one I am currently working on, I am trying to bring back more of the good ‘ole pencil torturing the drawing. What do you guys think? By the way, the latest episode is going to be called “Moondoggled,” and I have just finished the rough storyboard. It should be ready in about a week! Maybe by next Monday…? I can’t make any promises, but I will work my very hardest!

 
I, Ross Bollinger, believe that I have triumphed over that dastardly virus that has been infesting my website for the past couple of weeks.  The solution was fairly simple.  Perusing my source code, I located this really long, bizarre piece of jibberish among the normal html of my site.  I deleted it, and presto, no more virus!  But maybe it was all too easy…  Yes, that makes me worry.  It could be back…even worse than before!  But for now, I will sleep soundly–with my fingers crossed, of course.

 

 
I just finished up a little freelance work on the side and am preparing to dive into the next Pencilmation episode.  I have some thoughts on outer space and the deep blue that may manifest themselves in the upcoming episode.  We shall see.  Goodbye!
